Life Hacks for an Easy Move

  |     |   Uncategorized

Imagine this: You have applied to your dream apartment and you have been approved. You aren’t moving in immediately, so you feel like you have some time before getting all packed up and ready to go. You have put off packing and purging all unnecessary items around your home. Before you know it, your move in date is approaching FAST and you’ve got no idea where to start. Congratulations! You have just joined the procrastinators club! (or have you already been a member?) No worries. We aren’t here to judge you. We are here to help! Compiled is a list of things to help you get ready quickly and easily to move into your new home.

First thing’s first! Start the (sometimes tedious) process of getting all your utilities (electricity, cable, internet, renters insurance, etc.) prepared to be turned on at your new address by your move in date. This is something you will want to take care of sooner than later, because often companies will only set up utilities on certain days during certain time slots. You don’t want to be stuck with no Internet, because no internet means NO NETFLIX (cue the dramatic music)

The next part is my personal favorite part: THE PURGING. This is basically the process of a deep clean. Things that are no longer useful or just plain old can be donated to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. If the items are just trash, then go ahead and fill those trash bins! The less stuff lingering around means less stuff to lug over to your new sanctuary.

One you’ve rid yourself of all unneeded extras you can tackle the packing! Make sure to pack a little overnight bag with all your essentials. If you’re too tired to start un-boxing things right away; you can go to sleep at night knowing you’ve got clean clothes and your toothbrush readily available for the next day.

You can save money on bubble wrap or packaging paper by using clean articles of clothing when packing anything fragile. This kills two birds with one stone! No need to pack your clothes, because they serve a purpose. No broken dishes, yay! You can also skip on buying tons of expensive boxes. It’s time to put all your accumulated reusable bags to good use! And while saving money is amazing, let’s be honest; us procrastinators need to save on time too! To make things easier on yourself; label boxes with your items and the rooms they are intended for on all four sides of the box.

So now you’re packed and ready to go! The only thing left for your to do is say goodbye to your old home and prepare to live happy ever after at The Ace Apartments.
