Beat the Halloween Tummy Blues

  |     |   Uncategorized

After Halloween it’s very common to have an upset stomach. Whether you had too much candy or maybe even too many adult beverages. But fear not! I’ve got a few surefire ways to calm your angry tummy and help you recover quickly! Put my all natural tips to the test and let me know if any of these work for you!

Fennel seeds – Mostly used as a culinary herb, fennel seeds can be chewed up or brewed as tea (crush first) to calm an upset stomach.

Ginger tea – Grate fresh ginger root into hot water, steep for 5 to 10 minutes, strain and drink. Ginger is a powerful anti-nausea remedy. Kids may not like it, so be forewarned.

Fresh fruit – A piece of fresh organic fruit, like a banana or an apple, can help sweep out the intestines with healthy natural fiber. Apples are full of pectin, which stimulates elimination

Baking soda – A small amount of baking soda mixed with warm water is a natural version of Alka-Seltzer. Tastes not so great, but can be used in a pinch.

Peppermint tea (my favorite) – Strong peppermint tea is a tried and true remedy for what ails the stomach. Hot or cold, sweeten it with a little honey and sip it periodically until symptoms disappear.

And lastly! Hydrate! Drink lots and lots of water! Especially if you were drinking lots and lots of *something else* the night before.

Feeling yucky is NEVER fun. Especially if you’ve got work or school the next day. Unfortunately, Halloween is on a Wednesday this year boooo (and not the scary kind. The sad kind) So eat/drink up and enjoy yourself,  but be prepared with some of these remedies if the tummy sickies hit ya!
